Man admits nursery child assault

by isleofman.com 14th August 2013
A former employee at a Douglas nursery has pleaded guilty to the indecent assault of a three-year-old child.

Andrew James Maddrell, 24, who used to work at Sandcastle's Kindergarten, admitted the offence when he appeared in court last week.

He'll be sentenced next month.

Maddrell, of Ballanard Road, Douglas, pleaded guilty to one charge of indecent assault against the child, at a Court of General Gaol.

The offence took place at the nursery while he was employed there.

At an earlier court appearance this month, Maddrell pleaded guilty to possessing more than 230 indecent images of children - these were discovered after his arrest and are not connected with the nursery.

Maddrell has been remanded in custody until September 23 when he's due to be sentenced.

Detective Inspector Steve Maddocks says the owner, management and staff of Sandcastle's Kindergarten have been extremely co-operative through the investigation, providing support to children, parents and staff with the help of Victim Support.
