Record number of A level passes at highest grades

Students sitting A levels this year have chalked-up a new record in the number of passes at the highest grades.
Forty three point six per cent of entries were awarded A* to B grades - up on last year's figure of 40.9 per cent.
The overall pass rate at 97.1 per cent was in line with recent years.
Feedback from the Island's five high schools suggest the vast majority of the 340 students who sat the exams won a place at their first or 'insurance' choice of university.
Department of Education Coordinator for 11-19 education Paul Craine says this year's soon-to-be undergraduates are heading for a wide variety of institutions:
