Calling all Port Erin beach event organisers!

by isleofman.com 19th August 2013

Port Erin Commissioners have introduced an application form to help event organisers hoping to use Port Erin beach.

Throughout the year the beach is used for a wide range of events from barbeques to motocross, and church events to fundraising sports days and the Commissioners envisage the form will help clarify a range of responsibilities and duties expected of users.

Board Chair Lorna Mackellar: “Many people acknowledge the beach as one of Port Erin’s key assets and it’s great for the village that it’s so popular. We aim to encourage beach use for events whenever we can - this new form is designed to be proportionate for the range of events the beach attracts and as well as managing expectations as to the size and scale of different events will help with the annual calendar of activities to minimise the chance of events coinciding.

“To help ensure the appropriate arrangements are in place we request organisers to get in touch as far in advance as possible – and always a minimum of two weeks before the event.”

The Application Form can be downloaded from the Port Erin Commissioners website www.porterin.gov.im, and is available at the Port Erin Commissioners’ office in Bridson Street.
