Pre-school children with special needs, or whose families have a significant care responsibility, are to be helped by Standard Bank staff. Crossroads Care, the only ‘on island’ service provider supporting carers, is moving its day care centre for pre-school children and has asked for help in preparing its new premises.
The new nursery will be at Masham Court, Victoria Avenue, Douglas.
To make the outdoor area suitable for young children Crossroads has asked Standard Bank to help. Staff will be clearing an overgrown garden area and then levelling and preparing the ground and erecting a fence.
John Coyle, CEO of Standard Bank Isle of Man, said the staff are looking forward to helping out, ‘This is a great opportunity for us to do something constructive and practical to help what is a very worthwhile local charity. Crossroads Care supports carers and their loved ones no matter what their disability, illness or age. The nursery allows some respite care for children with additional needs, or for families where there is a significant care responsibility. Our staff are delighted to be helping enable carers to get some important respite.’
Last year Standard Bank employees created a garden for Manx Cancer Help as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
The work at Crossroads will take place over two days, Wednesday 2nd October and Thursday 4th. The Bank is giving staff the day off work to assist.
