by isleofman.com 23rd August 2013
Port Erin’s RNLI lifeboat was called out yesterday afternoon (Thurs) after a report of a person in distress on the coastline south of Niarbyl point.
The incident happened just before 4pm when a woman collapsed at the top of a cliff.
Atlantic 85 lifeboat "Muriel and Leslie" arrived on scene at 4.20pm and first aiders from the crew were put ashore to give medical assistance to the casualty.
Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards.
Due to the condition of the casualty, the remote location and the roads due to close for practising for the Festival of Motorcycling, a helicopter was then sent from RAF Valley in Anglesey
Crew members helped transfer the woman to the helicopter which took her to Nobles hospital.
The lifeboat returned to station just before 6pm.
