by isleofman.com 27th August 2013

Douglas RNLI lifeboat volunteer crew members were paged at 9:15am on Bank Holiday Monday morning (26th August) to carry out a medical evacuation from a fishing vessel approximately 15 miles south east of Douglas.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Sir William Hillary was launched under the command of volunteer coxswain Neal Corran after the fishing vessel skipper had reported a crewman had injured his hand quite badly requiring immediate medical assistance, the fishing vessel making its way towards Douglas so as to rendezvous with the lifeboat as soon as they could.

The injured crewman was transferred to the lifeboat and brought into the Liner Berth between the Victoria and King Edward Piers in Douglas harbour where the lifeboat was met by the Port Authorities and the casualty given into the care of a waiting ambulance crew.
