Police killer on hunger strike

by isleofman.com 27th August 2013
The killer of Manx-educated police officer Fiona Bone is on hunger strike – demanding to be moved to a Manchester prison.

Dale Cregan, 30, was given a full-life sentence for killing Fiona, whose family live in Port St Mary.

He ambushed Fiona along with her colleague Nicola Hughes, killing both officers in a gun and grenade attack.

Cregan now says he is serving his time too far from home and doesn’t like being kept apart from other inmates.

According to reports in the UK press, Cregan has refused food at maximum-security HMP Full Sutton, near York.

Newpapers say the killer wants to be transferred to Strangeways and to mix with other inmates.

He’s been kept segregated from other prisoners at Full Sutton, which is 80 miles from Manchester, amid reports of a gangland price on him.

Stalybridge and Hyde MP Jonathan Reynolds said he hoped Cregan would be dealt with accordingly and would go back to serving his sentence in whatever way the authorities see fit.
