Police appeal after lobster pots taken

by isleofman.com 28th August 2013
Police in Castletown are asking for information after two large commercial lobster pots were taken from Castletown beach between 9pm on Saturday 24th August 2013 and 9am on Sunday 25th August 2013.

These lobster pots were left out overnight along with two orange buoys and a set of tags identifying the owner. The orange buoys will display a three digit number which can be traced back to the owner and fishermen are urged to remain vigilant and check their property to ensure that these items are not sold on locally. The pots are described as being around 3ft in length and 2ft in width, made from metal and would be hard for a person to lift alone.

The investigating officer PC Kyle Sayers would like to speak with anyone who may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area between the times and dates stated above and asks them to contact him via Police Headquarters on 631212.

Members of the fishing community are urged to check their property to ensure they are clearly marked as this will help to discourage further incidents of a similar nature.
