The Appleby Charitable Foundation has donated ?2,500 to the Tommy Clucas Memorial Fund to support the new community sports hall at Peel AFC.
Set up in memory of Peel sportsman Tommy Clucas, the new indoor facility houses an enclosed 40m x 25m, third generation artificial grass surface with LED lighting equipped to facilitate various sports, with associated facilities and a viewing area.
Sean Dowling, Managing Partner at Appleby (Isle of Man) LLC, commented: “Sport plays an important role in the local community and we are pleased to be able to support this exciting new development, which will undoubtedly encourage more people to get involved.”
He continued: “It is an impressive facility and the Tommy Clucas Memorial Fund should be applauded for their fundraising efforts, which I am sure will be well received as the winter season approaches.”
Neil Cain, Treasurer of The Tommy Clucas Memorial Fund and Senior Manager at Appleby Fund Services (Isle of Man) Limited, also commented: “We would like to thank Appleby for their generous donation, which comes at a vital time as we make the finishing touches to the venue.”
He continued: “The support we have received over the last eight years from all over the community has been overwhelming and we hope that they will take great benefit from the project for many years to come.”
The new complex officially opens on Sunday 1 September and will be used by local sports clubs, recreational youth/community organisations and the general community for sport and recreation purposes.
The Appleby Charitable Foundation was launched in 2011 to support local causes with a focus on youth, education and sport. Over the past 18 months the legal, fiduciary and administration services provider has donated over ?20,000 to various charities and fundraising initiatives.
