Police investigation damage to cars in Port St Mary

by isleofman.com 29th August 2013
Police are investigating a number of cases of criminal damage to motor vehicles in the area of The Promenade, Port St Mary, which occurred between 6.00pm on Tuesday 27th August 2013 and 7.00am on Wednesday 28th August 2013.  The vehicles appear to have been sprayed with black spray paint. Police are appealing to any witnesses who may have seen anyone in the area acting suspiciously or who may have been carrying a tin of spray paint.

Sergeant Gary Heaton of The Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team said;

“We have arrested and interviewed two male juveniles today in connection with this matter who are now on Police bail whilst enquiries continue. However we are still keen to locate any witnesses who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area. I am particularly keen to find out if anyone left their car unlocked last night and to see if anything has been taken from their vehicle as we believe that the tin of spray paint used may have come from an unlocked car which was parked opposite the Commissioners Office in the car park. I would also like to highlight to the public the importance of locking their cars and not giving offenders the opportunity to commit crime. Matters such as this don’t happen often but when they do the cost of repairs and damage can run into thousands of pounds and can be avoided with some simple crime prevention and common sense being applied” .

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 304 Gardner at Castletown Police Station or alternatively the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
