Castletown resident Jonathan Rea has undergone surgery after breaking his left femur in Sunday’s World Superbike race at the Nurburgring in Germany.
Rea was in fourth spot on the penultimate lap when he crashed out after hitting oil laid down by the machine of another rider.
Competitor Leon Camier also crashed but avoided Rea.
