Rushen Silver Band will be performing a Celebration Concert at Castle Rushen High School, Castletown on Saturday 7 September, 7.30pm.
The Band will be conducted by Richard Evans, marking 10 years since his appointment as the Band’s Musical Advisor and the programme will feature music by the renowned brass band composer and arranger – the late Goff Richards - who sadly passed away in 2011.
Alan Crebbin, Band Chairman said: “The Band was delighted when, through the contact of Musical Director John Kinley, we were able to invite Richard to be our Musical Advisor and his regular visits over the last 10 years have been a huge encouragement to the Band. We are indebted to the Alistair Drinkwater Memorial Fund for helping making this Celebration Concert possible.”
Musical Director John Kinley: “Hot on the heels of the recording and release of the Band’s second CD “Sounds of the South” in July this promises to be a great concert. Goff Richards’ music is hugely enjoyable to listen to and a good challenge for the Band to learn and we’re looking forward to working hard with Richard in the run up to Saturday’s concert. We’re also honoured that Sue Richards, Mr Richards’ widow, will be visiting the Island specially for the concert.”
Tickets for the concert are ?6 (?3 for under 18s) and can be obtained from the Band Secretary on 493193.
