Police arrest couple on suspicion of prostitution

During the evening of Thursday 30th August 2013, Police arrested a male and a female on suspicion of committing prostitution offences within a premise in Douglas. Investigative enquiries continue however Police confirm that there are no further suspects to be arrested. 

Detective Sergeant Darren Hughes adds “This is an unusual and rare incident that is under investigation.  Whilst it is believed that the public are not at any risk, there is an expectation that such matters are properly and appropriately investigated.”

Inspector Mark Britton of the Central neighbourhood Policing Team commented:

“The Central Neighbourhood Policing Team works with the community on a lot of levels in respects of these kinds of activities. The public should be reassured that the Constabulary have acted on this issue. I would like to reiterate that people should report any matters to the Police that concern them and help us to do our work. On this occasion people have been arrested and we hope that there will not be a reoccurrence of any such activity in the future.”
