The fourth annual Isle of Man Adventure Race, sponsored by Price Waterhouse Coopers, sets off on Saturday 21st and it looks to be an exciting day for both competitors and spectators alike. Teams are currently completing the last of their training regimes in preparation for the multidisciplinary challenge. This year a second category has been introduced, with teams of two completing all disciplines non-stop.
The single day event kicks off at 9am with a morning Sea Swim around Peel castle to finish on Fenella Beach, Peel, followed by a mass start of both the Event and Elite categories at 10am Sea Kayaking from Fenella. The race continues with short mystery challenges, mountain biking, a gruelling 9km Hill Run, and the intimidating Rope Ascent.
The finale takes place at Fenella Beach car park from 2:30pm, where Event teams ascend a 40m high crane in a head to head battle, not only against other competitors, but also against the clock, whilst the Elite teams complete their 11km hill run, and round off with another mystery challenge. With Peel Castle as a backdrop, this is one of the most dramatic events for spectators and well worth a look. The prize presentation follows at 3:45pm, then a barbeque at the Adventurous Experience’s base in Patrick, for competitors, sponsors and marshals.

Making the most of the Isle of Man’s stunning coastline, with the race routes are both physically challenging, and include navigation between check points.
Keirron Tastagh, director at Adventurous Experiences Ltd said ‘Teams have until Tuesday to get their entry forms to us. A mixture of local and UK teams have entered, nearly doubling last year's entry. The Isle of Man Adventure Race could not happen without the continued support from the main sponsor PwC, and the Isle of Man Steam Packet, Sea Kayaking UK, Green Mann Spring, and Mylchreests Motors. 2014 will open up the race with a third categories, with individual entries welcome.
Adventurous Experiences run a photo competition with over ?200 in vouchers and prizes to be won. ‘Capturing the moment’ of the Race is the theme.
