Gymns stay top - without playing!

by isleofman.com 7th September 2013
There were goals galore in JCK Division Two as Gymns stayed top – despite not playing.

Their match at Malew was postponed.

Braddan missed the chance to go top as they lost 2-0 at home to pre-season favourites Marown, thanks to a goal in each half from Brett Kitching and Shaun Shimmin.

Foxdale gained the result of the day by holding Colby to a 4-4 draw to secure their first point of the season.

And but for a last-gasp equaliser they would have secured all three points.

Liam Cannon, Scott Kermeen, Liam Leece and Michael Court netted for the westerners.

Craig Gelling (two), Steven Leece and Jack Charmer scored for the home side but it was another disappointing result for Colby who have drawn three of their first four matches.

Douglas Royal and Onchan took advantage to move joint second.

Royal saw off Douglas and District 9-3 at Ballafletcher, led by four goal Paul Whitley.

Simon Dooley added a double and was joined on the scoresheet by Ryan Kelly, James Halliday and Andrew Lancaster.

D&D replied through Daniel Stewart-Clague (two, one pen) and Steven Horner.

The teams had shared four goals in a close opening half.

Onchan won 3-2 at Pulrose to continue their good start to the season - Dave Priestnal, Mark Walmsley and Lee Bass the scorers.

Ayre United cruised to a 7-0 success over Ronaldsway at Andreas.

Elliot Cureton (two), the ever-green James Teare (two), Phil Quayle, Jim Collister and Chris Murdoch were all on target for the Tangerines.
