MHK calls for government review on sustainability of food

by isleofman.com 9th September 2013

The MHK for Castletown has called for an immediate review by government on the sustainability of the local food industry.

Richard Ronan has made his call following last Friday's Mandate programme which highlighted the issue.

It featured a debate with several key players in the field including head buyer for Shoprite John Speakman, the MD of Isle of Man Creameries Findlay McLeod, DEFA Minister Phil Gawne and Ramsey Bakery MD Jim Duncan.

Mr Ronan says the Manx Radio programme raised some serious issues about the long-term viability of locally produced food if we do not act decisively.

And he thinks there needs to be a change in attitude:Clip 1
