Police pups are an internet hit

Police officers are considering how best to expand their presence on social media websites after scoring huge success with pictures of puppies!

Photos from Twitter of the animals, who are being trained to become police dogs, appeared on internet news site Buzzfeed – with more than 60,000 people viewing them in a single day.

Inspector Derek Flint says gone are the days when officers were reluctant to use sites such as Twitter and Facebook.

And he says the online posts show people the work that goes on in communities across the Island:
