Off-Island Archery Report

by isleofman.com 10th September 2013

There was no shooting at Greeba on Sunday due to the weather, but five archers were off-Island competing in a Double Fita competition held by Meriden Archers at Birmingham.  This competition is held over two days and luckily the rain held off for the duration of the shoot.

There were mixed fortunes for the archers with GB Junior No.1 Aalin George recording the highest score of the Manx contingent.  Younger sister, and GB Junior No.2  Kirsten, had a good day on Saturday, finishing just 4 points short of a Grand Master Bowman score, but unfortunately didn’t shoot as well and suffered a miss on Sunday which had a detrimental effect on her overall score.  The other lady compound archer was Sarah Rigby who was hampered by an on-going injury during the shoot on Saturday causing a drop in her score, shot better on Sunday putting an extra 26 points on her score from the previous day.  In the Gents Compound division both Dave Moore and Peter Mumford shot at a steady pace and at the end of the two days, after 288 arrows, only  26 points separated the two with Peter recording the higher score. The official final scores have not yet been received.  Former Club members, Anne and John Rutland, who now live near Birmingham, called in at the shoot on Saturday to show support for the Manx archers.

As we approach the end of the outdoor season, any archers holding Outdoor trophies from last year are asked to return these to the Records Officer, Barbara Harris, as soon as possible.

The rounds next Sunday will be Fita/Metrics meeting at Greeba as usual at 9.30 am and 1.30 pm.
