The Learning & Development Network has launched a challenge to find a website designer who will win a prize of ?500 plus the chance to receive expert mentoring and advice. The Learning and Development Network is a not for profit networking organisation that has been set up to support learning and development within the Isle of Man. It brings together, and is supported by, HR and learning and development professionals from the public, private and third sector with the aim of maximising the Island’s potential.
The inaugural Learning & Development Network Challenge aims to find an individual to complete the design of the organisation’s website. The successful candidate will be mentored by leading web design and digital marketing business Dot Performance to help them develop and make the most of the opportunity. The candidate will make regular progress reports to the Learning & Development Network Committee and be given three months to complete the design. Upon completion of the website the challenge winner will receive a prize of ?500 and attend the Network’s launch event in January 2014 where their work will take centre stage.

The Network is inviting applications from anyone who has studied, or is currently studying, web design and who is looking to establish, or who has recently commenced, a career in web design or a similar industry. Anyone interested in applying should send their CV to learningiom@manx.net before September 27 and include a summary of why they want to do the Challenge, what they want to get out of it, and what skills and qualities they possess that will help them to successfully complete the project.
A shortlist will be chosen and those applicants will be invited to attend an informal interview with a panel of the Network committee and a representative from Dot Performance. Applicants will be asked to bring with them examples of any work they have completed to date in any format, whether that is coursework, personal interest or more formal web design. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their application and their performance in the interview. Shortlisting will take place on September 30. Shortlisted applicants will be notified quickly and should be available for interview on October 4.
