Emerging Nomads cause upset in Manx Shield

Emerging Nomads beat Vagabonds B 41-34 to cause an early season upset in the Shimmin Wilson Shield.

Brendan Coleman, Dave Prince, Neil Collister, Nick Leddingham, Joe Callaghan and Gerard Landels all crossed for Nomads.

Craig Thompson, James Nicholls, Luke Purdy, Sam Egan and Jim Tomlinson scored for Vagas.

Douglas B kept early top spot in the standings with a 74-0 win over Western Vikings.

Luke Hyland and Glen Smith both bagged hat-tricks for Douglas.

Adam Howarth picked up two and there were also tries for Chris Bollen, James Wood, Mark Shortland and Carl Conroy.

Hyland also kicked seven conversions.

In the final game of the round, Southern Nomads beat Castletown 88-5 at Poulsom Park.

Gary Stephenson snatched Town’s consolation try as the Shield holders ran riot.
