Winning start for main challengers

The champions and the team tipped to be their main threat both won their opening games of the PWC Mixed Premier Division on Saturday.

Reigning champions Bacchas A saw off the challenge of Vikings A 5-3.

Jamie Brown, Johnny Callow, Andy Whiting, Kim Carney and Gareth Craig netted the goals.

Alex Birch. Steven Underwood and Andy Harding replied for Vikings.

Ollie Webster was the hero for Valkyrs A in a 12-0 romp against Vikings B.

He hit five.

Greg Miller added a hat-trick and there were doubles from Gareth Morris and Chloe Lace.

Hannah Leece hit a treble of her own to help Celts edge out Ramsey A.

Paul Kelly scored the other in a 4-3 win.

Sarah Nicholls, Christine Kermeen and Sam Moffatt found the net for the northerners.

Ben Leeming (two) and Tom Beresford scored the goals as Bacchas B defeated battling Valkyrs B 3-2.
