Weekend beach cleaners try new experiment

by isleofman.com 19th September 2013

Beach Buddies is switching its weekend session to a Saturday morning for the first time, and will tackle the beaches in the Perwick Bay area of Port St Mary.

Team sessions are normally held on Sunday mornings, but many of the Beach Buddies volunteers have asked for an occasional switch to Saturdays, so this will happen for the first time this weekend.

Volunteers should meet at 10.30am at the car park at The Point, just past the Kallow Point Mona's Queen Anchor Monument.

Bill Dale, organiser of Beach Buddies, said, “It will be something of an experiment, but there appears to be lots of support for trying a Saturday session as lots of people are involved in other activities on Sundays.

“If it works we will look at having regular Saturday sessions, and it may well be that we alternate between Saturdays and Sundays in the future. It all depends on how it goes this weekend.

“Whatever happens, it looks like we will hold Saturday sessions regularly so that all our volunteers can get involved.”
