Rare golfing feat in Nationwide business golf event

by isleofman.com 20th September 2013

One of the best team scores of the Isle of Man's golfing year was recorded when the Financial Planners Golf Day, sponsored by Nationwide International, was held at Ramsey Golf Club.

The winning team achieved the rare feat of recording a 3-figure am-am-total, when they scored 100 points on a Ramsey course which was in perfect condition.

All four players in the Mac Financial “A” team played high quality golf to easily win the competition, and the generous prizes donated by Nationwide International. The team comprised Nigel Gregg, Nick Kelly, Ed Walter and Andrew Walker.

Runners-up, MBL “A, were 10 points behind, with MBL “C” in third place on 89 points. The competition was played off yellow tees.

Nearest-the-pin prizes were won by Bob Arneil (3rd), Mark Curphey (9th) and Andrew Walker (18th), and the longest drive prize, for a massive tee shot on the 7th hole, was claimed by Gareth Hoosen-Owen.  All prizes were presented by Amanda Park, from Nationwide’s marketing department.

“This was a very well supported event,” said Nigel Gregg, who organised the event, “and we are very grateful once again for the generous sponsorship of Nationwide International which is very much appreciated.”

RESULTS:
1) Mac Financial A (Nigel Gregg, Nick Kelly, Ed Walter and Andrew Walker) 100 pts; 2) MBL “A” (John Shields, Stan Ryzak, Gareth Hoosen-Owen and Bob Arneil) 90 pts.
