Some very smartly dressed cyclists will be pedalling to and from work this week to raise funds for charity. The Children’s Centre’s Suits On Bikes event – sponsored by Coutts Isle of Man – challenges notable business figures to leave their cars at home and instead cycle to work wearing a suit and tie. To take part they can either ride to and from work on all five days of the working week starting on September 23, or just on Friday September 27.
Those taking part are David Batey and Paul Warburton from Coutts Isle of Man, Nigel Clucas and Antony Aspell (RBS International), Lee Harrison (People Dimensions), Richard Fletcher (Manx Telecom), Chris Darnill and Richard Cowin (both from Hansard), Dave Quirk (Dandara), Neil Taggart (Crystals estate agents), Juan Owens (Zurich), and Mike Kelly (First Names Group). Several staff from The Children’s Centre also taking up the challenge, including Accounts Manager Sue Mitchell who aims to complete all five days. Some of the riders face a daily round trip of more than 30 miles cycling to Douglas and back from Langness and Ramsey. It is expected that the event will raise around ?1,000.

“This is the first year we have organised the Suits On Bikes challenge and we’re extremely grateful to everyone who is taking part. A special thank you must go to Coutts Isle of Man for their sponsorship of this year’s event which includes a celebratory breakfast at Noa Bakehouse on the final day of the challenge, and producing promotional material.”
Riders will be treated to a well-deserved menu of bacon baps and coffee at Noa Bakehouse in Douglas this Friday which will allow the riders to replenish some of the thousands of calories they will burn during the week, and meet their fellow fundraisers to share their experiences of the challenge.
