Nine out of ten police 'on front line'

The Island’s constabulary has 94 per cent of its officers on the front line, according to new figures.

The data, released on Friday, shows Isle of Man Constabulary is streets ahead of UK forces – which have faced a stream of criticism about officers being stuck in admin roles.

Chief Constable Gary Roberts says almost every officer on the Island is involved in operational duties in some way.

But he says that can stretch capabilities – especially with budget cuts on the way.
