Western commissioners oppose all-Island housing authority

by isleofman.com 26th September 2013

Five local authorities in the west say they're opposed to an all-Island housing authority.
Instead, they've put together a working party to look at the viability of setting one up which would cover the west.
At a meeting to discuss the matter it was decided the social housing needs there were best met by those who represented the ratepayers of the west of the Island, rather than one centralised body.
Those who attended also doubted an all-Island authority would deliver any significant economies of scale, and therefore savings.
