Charities wishing to hold street collections and flag days in Douglas in 2014 are being invited to apply now to Douglas Development Partnership.
Douglas town centre manager Michelle O’Malley said: ‘The people of the Isle of Man are unfailingly generous in their support of local causes, even in these uncertain economic times. Street collections are a great way not only to raise funds but also to lend visibility to local campaigns. With this in mind, we would encourage charities to consider staging an event around their collection day to stimulate public interest in their cause and bring an added vibrancy to the town centre.’
Under the Borough of Douglas General Byelaws 1991, 28 applications will be considered in any one year (not including emergency two-day street collections following a disaster appeal).
Application forms are available from Michelle O’Malley, momalley@douglas.gov.im, or by calling into Douglas Development Partnership’s office at Chesterfield House, Victoria Street, Douglas.
Applications for 2014 must be received by Tuesday November 12th 2013.
