Delays at Ballure level crossing, Ramsey

by isleofman.com 2nd October 2013

Due to on-going works to stabilise the cliff at Ballure, trams on the Manx Electric Railway are running on one track only.

This results in the red stop lights remaining on for a significantly longer time than usual after the tram has passed over the level crossing near Ramsey. Drivers should be aware that this is not a defect with the lights. When only one track is in use, it is not possible to shorten the time the lights take to switch off after the tram has passed over the crossing when travelling towards Douglas.

All road users are reminded that it is an offence to drive through red lights at level crossings, even after a tram has passed over the crossing.

This delay will continue until the end of the MER timetable on Sunday 3 November.

The Department of the Environment, Food and Agriculture, which is carrying out the works, and the Public Transport Division of the Department of Community, Culture and Leisure apologise for any inconvenience caused to road users.
