Police confirm drug smuggling arrest

At 9.35pm on Friday 27th September 2013, at the Sea Terminal, Douglas a 39 year old Liverpudlian Male was arrested by Officers from the Pro Active Team for Production (importation) of a Class ‘A’ controlled drug namely Heroin.  As it was believed the male had the drugs secreted internally, for his own safety he was taken to Nobles Hospital for medical treatment.

Subsequently a number of packages held internally were passed and seized by Police.
 
At 2.10pm Wednesday 2nd October 2013, the male was charged with Production (importation) of a Class ‘A’ controlled drug namely Heroin and Possession with intent to supply a Class ‘A’ controlled drug namely Heroin.  He will appear before the next available Court.
 
Detective Sergeant Paul Holland of the Pro Active Team stated “We believe approximately ?11,200.00 worth of Heroin has been seized.  The Heroin was destined for the streets of the Isle of Man, and stopping this importation reduces the harm Heroin and the associated acquisitive crime it can cause within the community.  The focus of the Pro Active Team  is to continue to target criminal networks involved in the importation of class A controlled drugs, and those that target vulnerable and potentially vulnerable users of controlled drugs.
