Island defeated in Umbro Quadrangular opener

by isleofman.com 4th October 2013

Another slow start by the Isle of Man cost them in their opening match at the Umbro Quadrangular Tournament yesterday evening.
They went 1-0 down in the first minute against Northern Ireland, and conceded a second in the 13th minute.
After that, the Island produced some promising passages of play, but were unable to turn that into goals.
That changed following the introduction of Sam Caine in the second half.
He was brought down in the area with 10 minutes to go, and Ciaran McNulty tucked away the penalty.
They couldn't find an equaliser, though, and fell to a 2-1 defeat.
There's no time to dwell on that, as they face the Republic of Ireland this afternoon, kicking off at 2pm.
