Cuplas Callow's Ramsey Men's Dart League results

by isleofman.com 4th October 2013
So many headlines from week 2 of the Cuplas Callow Ramsey mens darts league!

We start with a master class from the Plough A,  I tipped them last week as my title favourites and they didn't let me down winning 7-2 at the Commie who themselves are a very good side hitting 17 tons but only winning 5 legs, Sean Walsh hitting more than any player in the league this week with 7 ton + scores and three of the five legs.  The Plough boys cruised through the pairs games but then the fireworks started as Geoff Howland laid claim to his brothers prize of fastest leg and possibly the fastest match we may see this year with a sublime 14 and 15 dart legs. Straight after this game the old master Andy Hudgeon steps up and hits 6 perfect darts in leg one.  180 followed by 180 and what with the new boys Chris Wade and Gary Uren backing them up its hard to see how anyone can live with them.

Next game and our first shock of the year,  well maybe a semi-shock as last year's giant killers Commie Raven took down the mighty Stanley but to be fair the Stanley were missing the nucleus of their side. The only real positives for the Stanley is the fine form of Barry Sharpe again with a 6+ ton night.  For the Commie boys who themselves had 2 game guarantee man Phil Teare out ill bounced straight back from last weeks lose with Charlie Cormode hitting 4 tons and Lon Chambers winning this week's highest finish with a fine 117.  The score?   6-3 to the Commie Raven.

Another semi-shock was the Swan coming away from the Plough B with a fine 5-4 victory.  Now this game was one of those where both teams could have come away with a 9-0 victory as all games came down to who hit the double first with the singles victory for Paul Arthur the only 2-0 of the night. Tye Jones and Mac MacDonald both coming away with 5 tons and Jamie Kelly with 4.  For the Swan it was Paul Arthur 5 tons and Stevie Waters with 3 tons that did the damage and nice to see Eric Maddox back throwing and showing he still has it with a 180.

Final game of the night was to be a pretty easy affair for the Mitre winning 7-2 at the RAOB with James Crowe and Alan Phythian the only victors for the Buffs James hitting 3 tons.  The Mitre again bouncing back from a defeat last week with Roy Dunlop, Chris Van Buul, Stu Corlett and Derek Radcliffe all taking pairs and singles victories.
