Skelly to expand on no confidence motion

by isleofman.com 4th October 2013

MHK Laurence Skelly has stepped into the limelight after fronting a motion of no confidence against health minister David Anderson.

The move comes after nine Tynwald members including Mr Skelly, signed a letter to the chief minister in July, criticising Mr Anderson's leadership and handling of concerns over procedures and patient safety at Noble's Hospital.
It's unclear whether all those who signed the letter are still unhappy with Mr Anderson's tenure at the health department, in the light of recent initiatives to address some of the acknowledged serious issues at the hospital.
They include the commissioning of an independent review of the Isle of Man health service.
Mr Skelly called a news conference today (4 October) in which he outlined his motives and strategy.

Due to an embargo imposed by Mr Skelly, local media are obliged not to report directly on the conference today, but the interview will be broadcast on Monday's Mandate programme from 0730.
