Douglas’ sensational start to the season continued with a 13-10 win away at Hoylake in South Lancashire/Division One – a victory which confirmed them as genuine early promotion contenders.
The win moved them three points clear in second place as rivals Glossop lost at home to Sefton.
As the scoreline suggests it was nip and tuck for much of the game.
The dominant Douglas pack ground out a penalty try which Bryn Snellgrove converted.
He also bagged two penalties to keep his side’s 100 per cent record in the division.
In Division Two, Ramsey finally got off the mark with a 24-0 win over fellow strugglers Wallasey at Mooragh Park.
After a scoreless first half, Ben Harding’s try broke the deadlock early in the second.
After his try was converted by Andy Cleator, Tom Kinrade added Ramsey’s second and Max Singer crashed in for a third.
Cleator converted both tries and added a penalty for good measure as Ramsey finally moved off the bottom of the table.
Manchester Medics beat Vagabonds 61-21 at Ballafletcher in a game which Vagabonds will want to forget.
Vagas trailed 21-7 at half-time with a try from Tom Gascoyne and a conversion from Aiden O’Shea just keeping them in touch.
In a clinical second half display, the Medics ran away with the game despite tries from Lucas Veradi and Sam Games, both of which were converted by O’Shea.
