Fire Crews called out to child stuck in door mechanism

by isleofman.com 7th October 2013
At approximately 08:00hrs on Sunday morning, the Emergency Rescue Vehicle along with the Duty Pumping Appliance from Douglas Station were dispatched by the Emergency Joint Control Room to a report of a 2 year old girl entrapped in a door mechanism.

Upon arrival the ambulance crew in attendance stated that the child was trapped alone behind her bedroom door with her finger stuck in the locking mechanism, making it impossible to gain entry to the room. Sub Officer Quirk in charge of Green Watch dispatched his crew to place a ladder up to the locked 1st floor bedroom window to enable the crew to make visual contact with the child.

Then by using breaking in tools the crew were able to force entry through the bedroom door to release the child into the care of the Ambulance Service and her relieved parents.
