Lessons learned from bus crash response

by isleofman.com 8th October 2013
Organisations involved in dealing with last weekend's fatal bus crash in Castletown are to review their response to the accident.

Emergency services descended on the scene after a car and bus collided at Ballakaighan Corner on Saturday afternoon.

It left a 10-year old girl dead and three members of her family injured in hospital.

Within minutes, traffic was turned back, diversions put in place and health staff at Noble's put on alert for large numbers of casualties.

The driver of the bus has been praised for his swift action to ensure the safety of his passengers amid a chaotic scene.

Chief executive at the leisure department Colin Kniveton says plans were followed closely but lessons can always be learned from a real disaster: Clip 1
