Plug pulled on Island TV news service

The company behind the Isle of Man's first daily TV news bulletin says the project is being dropped because it's too costly.

TVim was launched last year online by Dougas-based radio statio 3FM.

A weekly round-up of Island news on Friday evenings was extended to a nightly programme in January.

But according to 3FM boss Ron Berry demand for the service failed to grow as expected.

Production costs and the departure of news anchor Rick Faragher added to the problems and TVim broadcast its final bulletin last Friday.

Mr Berry says they aim to produce special features in future but the figures for a daily service do not stack up:
