by isleofman.com 9th October 2013

A crew member from a Manx-registered ship had to be evacuated by helicopter earlier this week after a fall.

On Monday, the US Coastguard said it had airlifted the man from the bulk carrier Anne Mette, which was 200 miles southwest of the westernmost tip of Alaska.

The crew member suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Anchorage, a total journey of 1,500 miles, for medical treatment.

There’s no word yet on his condition.

The Anne Mette was built in Japan in 2012 and is 185 metres long.
