Yet more bad new on London air services

by isleofman.com 10th October 2013
easyJet which on Monday announced it was to boost flights between Isle of Man and London Gatwick with five additional flights per week from March 2014 - which they told us would mean double daily services each week day - has now announced their Summer schedule for the period 16 June to 14 September.

Unbelievably the airline which the public was told had "come up trumps with two flights to and from London Gatwick each weekday from March 2014"  has, within 48 hours, withdrawn the morning flights on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the peak holiday period (12 July to 6 September) and, in a move which will shock our hoteliers and all those involved with the Hospitality industry in any way, will be offering NO Saturday Gatwick/IOM flights at all between these dates - a loss of around 350 seats each Saturday over summer 2013.

easyJet, which we are told "continues to support the Island residents and businesses" has already scheduled reduced services for the coming winter. On the London Gatwick route there are no Tuesday or Wednesday services between 5th November and 18th December and between 7th January and 12th February. Similarly there are no Liverpool flights on Tuesdays between 12th November and 3rd December, and, in the New Year no Tuesday or Wednesday Liverpool flights between 7th and 29th January.

This is desperate news for passengers and Manx businesses alike. What do the IOM Government propose to do in the face of this serious service reduction?
