If you’re a lover of musicals and live performance then Stage Door Entertainment, the new venture founded by experienced local performers Kristene Sutcliffe, Lisa Kreisky and Alex Toohey, have just the evening for you.
Tickets are selling well for their one night only performance of ‘A Night at the Musicals’ to be staged at the Erin Arts Centre, Port Erin on Saturday 26th October 2013.
The event, billed as an evening of well-loved show tunes performed in an intimate setting, will consist of a variety of solos, duets and ensemble numbers by some of the Isle of Man’s best known theatrical performers including Kathryn Power, Jonathan Sleight, Kristene Sutcliffe, Simon Fletcher, Alex Toohey and introduces some up and coming talented youngsters in Saroja-Lily Ratnavel and Robyn-Mae Lawler.
The evening will be a showcase of songs from a diverse selection of musicals written by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Boublil & Schonberg, Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, Lionel Bart, Tim Minchin and many more. The night will also pay tribute to the song writing skills of Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
Having performed in many musicals themselves, both locally and professionally throughout the UK, including Miss Saigon, Evita, Hairspray, and The King and I to name a few, Alex, Lisa and Kristene are no strangers to bringing quality productions to Manx audiences. “Alex, Lisa and I are extremely excited about our future plans for this new dynamic company. Our aim is a simple one – to nurture, add to and enhance what is an already strong and vibrant theatrical and entertainment scene on the Isle of Man, be it through live performance or in an educational format” Kristene said. “All three of us bring different qualities to the table plus we have been friends for a long time so we all have a mutual understanding of how we want to move the company forward, and what better way to start than this!”
