Michael joy; Town despair

by isleofman.com 12th October 2013
Castletown are facing a long hard winter if they are to survive in the Canada Life Premier League.

That’s after they went down 4-3 at home to newly promoted Michael on Saturday to remain rooted at the bottom of the table.

Town were up against it after trailing 2-0 at the interval.

And although they hit back in the second half with goals from Mike Edge, Liam Crawley and Farrell Iveagh to lead 3-2, it wasn’t enough to avoid a morale-sapping defeat and what could be a vital three points for Michael.

Tommy Corlett’s first goal in nine years – an 87th minute header – sealed the win after Jason Chatwood (two) and Dave Reynolds had netted.

A late equaliser from Johnny Callow rescued a point for Laxey as the big match with Old Boys ended 1-1 at Glen Road.

However, it could have been better for the Miners but Danny Mead produced a last minute penalty save to deny his former club.

Old Boys had led through an own goal.

Josh Kelly hit a hat-trick as Rushen returned to winning ways with a 4-1 success over Ramsey.

Danny Oram scored the other for the southerners at Croit Lowey.

Matthew Montgomerie was the Ramsey scorer.

A Lee Gale double and further goals from Daniel Bell and Daniel Lace fired Peel to a 4-1 win at Union Mills, whose reply came from Kyle Uren.

Corinthians sealed back-to-back wins with a 4-1 home triumph over Ramsey Youth Centre.

Max Kneale (two), Jamie Stoy and Lewis Thornton, from the penalty spot, secured the points with Lewis Moran notching the Youth Centre consolation.
