KPMG Isle of Man has announced the bumper result of a year packed full of fundraising for their chosen charity of the year 2012/13, Rebecca House. A massive ?23,700 was raised through a series of fundraising initiatives as diverse as iPad Mini raffles, dress down days, bonus balls, the inaugural and soon to return Promenade Relay, and a sponsored Great North Run by Associate Director, Micky Swindale. Building on these achievements, the locally based audit, tax and advisory services provider has also announced its chosen Charity of the Year 2013/14 as the UK’s only charity dedicated to improving the lives of patients with all types of blood cancer, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research UK.
An additional ?2,000 was raised by a single KPMG employee through the global charity ADRA and has also been donated to contribute towards the salary of a Youth Support Worker at Hospice IOM. Every year, ADRA, or the Adventist Development and Relief Agency, coordinates door to door collections for two weeks in March. In addition to assisting our less fortunate neighbours in 3rd world territories, a portion of the donations are directed towards Isle of Man charitable needs.

The team have gotten involved in all kinds of ways; they have painted our ‘bands’ around their windows and have been a huge support, not only in raising funds but in so many other ways – thank you.”
KPMG’s newly nominated Charity of the Year, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research UK, raises funds to support life saving research into all forms of blood cancer and focuses on finding causes, improving diagnoses and treatments, and running groundbreaking clinical trials for patients. Established in 1960 as the Leukaemia Research Fund, it has since expanded to over 150 branches across the UK and last year raised over ?20million for blood cancer research. Amongst countless other achievements, a recent study by Newcastle University found that a recent research project founded by Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has reduced the chances of a rare subtype of childhood Leukaemia returning by 75%.
