Turbine factory firm visiting Island

by isleofman.com 18th October 2013

The company which wants to build a wind turbine factory in the Isle of Man is visiting its favoured site this weekend.

Prowind (UK) Ltd could create more than 100 new jobs if a manufacturing base for onshore turbines in Jurby gets the green light.

The firm wants to create a mini wind farm consisting of five turbines, to power the plant.

It's understood without permission for that development, Prowind would go elsewhere.

Later this month a jobs fair has been organised, even though planning issues are yet to be resolved.

This week Michael MHK Alf Cannan warned the project - which came to light in the local press - could face opposition from local residents.

Economic Development Minister John Shimmin says more information should be made public very soon:Clip 1
