The annual Hookham Shield returned home to King William’s College for the first time in a number of years last Saturday 12th October after the KWC Under 16s rugby squad saw off fierce competition from rivals Queen Elizabeth II, Castle Rushen and Ballakermeen High School. KWC managed to win all three games but not without having to put up a fight during the morning. There was an outstanding amount of skill on show from all three teams, each game providing an intense physical contest. Founded in 1982, the Hookham Shield is an inter-schools tournament played at the College which commemorates the tragic death of King William’s College student and rugby fanatic Adrian Hookham.
The highlight of the morning was most definitely a high tempo contest between Castle Rushen and King William's College proving a little insight as to what is in store for the annual 1st XV fixture between the two schools to be held at Castle Rushen on Thursday 21st November, Kick off will be at 2.15pm.
