Around 80 people attended the Roamin Comin meeting at the Peel Centenary Centre last night (Tues) which was attended by all the Council of Ministers
Chief Minister Allan Bell opened the meeting then handed over to Social Care Minister Chris Robertshaw, who gave a 15 minute presentation on the challenges government is facing in dealing with an increase in the elderly in the community in the coming years.
Topics covered included the potential sale of the nunnery and the creation of a ICT university, the Health Minister’s confidence in the management at Noble’s hospital, concerns over air routes to the Island, the number of Chief Executives in government and the protection of the vulnerable in the Isle of Man.
The meeting lasted just under 2 and a half hours.
One question concerned the comments made by Jersey's retiring Director of Human Resources Mark Sinclair, and their relevance to the Isle of Man.
Mr Sinclair believes it did not make sense to have ten individual States departments with ten different chief executives in charge and thinks Jersey is wasting money by duplicating services across departments.
He had been given the job of overhauling the public sector, but resigned from his post as the head of HR after two years
