Jubilee Clock move "going well"

So far - so good.

The verdict from the man in charge of the delicate operation to move the Jubilee Clock in Victoria Street to a new position.

This morning the clock faces and hands were removed before the top section of the clock was lifted off its stem.

The cast iron base will be lifted onto a new plinth tomorrow morning (Friday), 10 metres from its original position as part of the promenade upgrade.

Department of Infrastructure workers, a specialist crane operator and a clock expert from Derby have been involved in the operation.
