Flood prevention: sea wall rise unlikely

by isleofman.com 28th October 2013

The enormous cost to raise sea defences in Douglas means it's unlikely government will increase the height of the sea wall on the promenade.

If a combination of storm surge, highwinds, high tides and high pressure all came together, it's estimated the sea level could rise about three feet above the current promenade sea wall.

However, that is seen as a one in 200 year event.

Much more likely is eight inches above the wall.
