Slight decrease in rate of inflation in October

The annual rate of inflation as measured by the Retail Prices Index (RPI) showed a slight decrease to 2.3% in October 2013, down from 2.4% in September.

Excluding housing costs, the annual rate of inflation shown by the RPI also decreased, from 2.3% to 2.1% in October 2013.

The annual rate of inflation shown by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) was at 0.9% in October 2013.
