Departments not in tandem over buses

The Island’s highways chief has confirmed two government departments have been at loggerheads over plans to bring bendy buses to Manx roads.
It was confirmed yesterday (Nov 5) that following independently assessed trials, the articulated vehicles will not be added to the Bus Vannin fleet.
Leisure Minister Graham Cregeen said safety concerns had been fully allayed but the Island’s road infrastructure would first have to be upgraded for the vehicles to operate effectively.
Mr Cregeen, who had hoped their introduction would achieve much-needed savings, has also indicated sufficient numbers of the buses are no longer available.
