Four Management Appointments for KPMG

by isleofman.com 6th November 2013

KPMG Isle of Man has added to a raft of new appointments with the promotion of four team members to management positions. Chris Shimmin, Sarah Brunswick, Clare Kelly and Sarah Wilton, each long standing members of the KPMG Isle of Man team, are the most recent beneficiaries of a series of expansions as part of the audit, tax and advisory firm’s renowned learning and development programmes.

A graduate of Leeds University and member of the Association of Chartered Accountants (ACA) via the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Chris Shimmin began his career in accountancy with another Island based ‘Big Four’ firm before joining KPMG as an Audit Senior in 2010. His new role will see Chris increase his involvement in KPMG’s internal finance function as well as assume additional responsibility for the team portfolio of clients. As well as exploring opportunities for diversification, Chris fosters a keen interest in the Island’s growing eGaming industry, an avenue he hopes to pursue as part of the firm’s continual development programme.

Sarah Brunswick first joined KPMG as part of its world renowned graduate intake programme where she gained her ACA qualification having graduated from Durham University with a Master’s Degree in theoretical physics. Sarah’s new role as Manager will see her build upon significant experience in client liaison gained through a variety of secondments to manage a varied portfolio. Sarah will also assume additional responsibility for team members and enjoy more direct interaction with KPMG’s management and partner function.

Clare Kelly joined KPMG as an audit assistant in 2004 and completed her ACA qualifications whilst working within the audit department. In 2008 Clare transferred to the tax department with which she also gained her Chartered Tax Advisor qualification in 2013. A graduate of the IOM Business School with a First Class Honours degree in Business Studies, Clare’s new role as Manager will provide her with the opportunity to become more involved in strategy implementation and work with junior members of the department to develop their careers.

Sarah Wilton joined KPMG Isle of Man in 2010 as an Audit Senior on a two year secondment from Port Elizabeth, South Africa. A graduate of Accounting, Auditing, Taxation and Management Accounting from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, Sarah completed her chartered accountancy qualifications with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors. Her new role as Audit Manager will see Sarah assume additional responsibility for the management grouping of client relationships and the performance management of junior staff.

David McGarry, Managing Director of KPMG Isle of Man, commented: “I am delighted that the continued growth and development of our business in the Isle of Man has enabled these promotions. The calibre and professionalism of the individuals who have been promoted reflects the very high quality of our training and development programmes in the Isle of Man, which are closely integrated with our international firm. I am sure that each of the new members of our management group will make an important contribution to the future quality of the work that we carry out on behalf of our clients, both here and internationally.”
