Deputy Clerk of Tynwald gives organ recital at the Royal Chapel

by isleofman.com 8th November 2013
Jonathan King is giving an organ recital at the Parish Church of St John the Baptist, known as the Royal Chapel. The recital has been arranged by the Isle of Man Organists' Association and will take place on Saturday 9 November at 3pm.

Jonathan said: "As Deputy Clerk of Tynwald since 2007, I have listened to the organ being expertly played at eight Tynwald Ceremonies. By lucky chance my official seat for the first part of the ceremony is in the south transept which is probably the best place in the building to hear the music. I am looking forward to "crrossing the floor" to the north side of the church and taking to the organ console myself! I am also delighted to be joined by southern ladies' choir Mycheilley with their musical directors Miss Kath Cooil and Mrs Enid Kellett."

The programme will consist mainly of English, French and German baroque music, with one or two more romantic "party pieces".
